# Campus Rink history archive

The expanded **History → Season stats** and **Stats leaders** tabs use the newer dataset documented in [STATS-SOURCES.md](STATS-SOURCES.md). The annual-leader import described below is retained as an early-year fallback.

Checked September 10, 2026. A local snapshot of NCAA national championship and annual statistical records. This archive retains historical NCAA records; the main player and scoreboard pages now use separate published season reports.

## Coverage

| Competition | Championship years | Annual per-game leader seasons ending |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Men's Division I | 1948–2026 | 1996–2026 |
| Women's National Collegiate | 2001–2026 | 2001–2026 |
| Men's Division III | 1984–2026 | 1996–2024 |
| Women's Division III | 2002–2026 | 2002–2023 |

173 championship-year entries include canceled tournaments. Every completed championship year in these four competitions has a locally saved playoff bracket or round-by-round results. Recent NCAA website brackets provide 291 game / no-contest cards. Older brackets are rendered from NCAA record books; early pages sometimes contain multiple years. Click to enlarge.

The 329 annual leader entries cover points, goals, and assists **per game**, including published co-leaders. Season totals are shown for those leaders; these are not annual leaders ranked by total points, goals or assists. Points equal goals plus assists. Earlier seasons are not available in the imported annual tables. Historical qualification/minimum-game rules are those used by the NCAA source.

Conference playoffs, historical Division II championships, and club championships are not imported. The interface identifies these coverage limits and does not populate fictional history.

Coach, score, champion record, runner-up, host, and vacated-participation flags follow the respective championship list. The women's National Collegiate list does not include a coach column. Some season records differ between NCAA webpages and record books; the champion table retains its own source's value.

## Playoff records

- [Men's Frozen Four record book](https://s3.amazonaws.com/fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/m_icehockey_rb/FrozenBook.pdf), bracket section, PDF pages 156–207. The source covers tournaments through 2025. Scanned 1948–1998 pages were visually checked for their year-to-page mapping.
- [Women's Frozen Four record book](https://s3.amazonaws.com/fs.ncaa.org/Docs/stats/w_icehockey_rb/WFrozenFour.pdf), bracket section, PDF pages 29–40. Each PDF page is a two-page spread.

Each game card links to its NCAA record. Men’s and women’s DI/NC tournaments for 2016–2019 and 2021–2026 use NCAA's structured published bracket data. The latest four tournaments also have locally saved printable brackets. Canceled 2020 DI/NC tournaments have no played-game results. DIII women's 2020 opening-round results are retained before the cancellation. The 2021 DIII tournaments were canceled.

Historical scores preserve series formats, mini-games, overtime notations and source notes. A two-game series result is not condensed into a single invented game. The 1987 DIII men's vacated title is excluded from title counts; other vacated-participation flags are retained.

### Source discrepancies handled

- The NCAA online 2023 men's bracket lists Michigan–Penn State as a 1–1 final. The completed NCAA record-book bracket (PDF page 205) shows Michigan 2–1 in overtime. The game card uses that completed bracket and links directly to it.
- Three games in the 2018 women's online bracket omit winner flags. Winners are determined from the unequal published final scores.
- Men's 2021 Michigan–Minnesota Duluth and Notre Dame–Boston College are **no-contests**. Their score cells show dashes, not 0–0 or invented wins.
- Inconsistent numerical fields in annual leader tables are withheld and flagged: DIII men's 2006 assists (Aaron Johnson), 2021 assists (Conor Landrigan), 2023 points (Arkhip Ledenkov); DIII women's 2003 goals (Zoe Baldwin) and 2020 assists (Samantha Benoit). These names/categories remain as listed, with source links for review.
- Printed historical player names and school abbreviations otherwise remain as supplied. Display aliases connect familiar school names to existing logos without changing the underlying source entries.

Source URLs, dates and page references accompany the entries in `history-data.json`. The UI uses its equivalent `history-data.js` for offline loading, including when the static app is opened without a backend. Bracket images remain unaltered apart from rendering and splitting two-page PDF spreads. Organization marks remain the property of their respective owners; no endorsement is implied.
